Andrea Reyes is a Chicago-based visual artist. Her work uses photography, print media, video, audio, and her family’s photographic archive. She uses these media to exercise her curiosity and drive to visualize and articulate the history of her parents and their generation’s eventual migration to Chicago in the late 1990s to late 2000s from Michoacán, MX. Andrea's two series of works Ultimas and North on Southbound Lanes explore this history with separate focuses; the domestic silence surrounding the women of my family, and the physical labor that comes with construction and landscaping jobs that the men worked for over two decades.
